Barbara Pastorino Artist Bio:

Born in Varallo (VC), lives in Milan. REVIEWS: Barbara Pastorino’s works outline, with their delicate and sometimes rarefied chromatism, what the artist herself calls a landscape from the unconscious. A place made of ego and subconscious, that translates in image both frightened and confused at the same time, that seem like what Frost defined in poetry “sound of meaning”. As you see her works, you find yourself understanding and appreciating a message that is not closed and imposing, but evocative and suggestive, a content hidden yet clear, like a quarrel heard from the neighborhood in which, without even recognizing the words, you can catch the meaning and an emotion. Matteo Barbieri (Marzo 2014) Barbara Pastorino’s work explores the soul. Through a gestural art, she gives back sinuous and fascinating images; those unique sensations originate from the meeting of past and current personal reflecting not just what the artist is feeling but what is how it presents itself as a fantastical experience. Fabio Scaletti (Maggio 2012) The only language thrown on the canvas is the unconscious one, left to the imagination. Colours that are mixed and left to our vision. The painter treats her landscapes’ contents as though expressing a need. The interchange between ideas and colours is in conflict at times, in a whirling circuit with interesting and surprising results. In particular the works “sea beds” with green, violet, blue, red and shades of yellow, meet each other and blend like floating sea weed, usually creating irregular shapes for the viewer to ponder. This way of painting highlights the incredible and extraordinary dynamic and its importance in the difficult and endless path. In the effort to give vision to the unseen, she deals with the unconscious. The sceneries chosen as landscapes are the sea beds and those cities that with water have a particular consonance. Italian cities having a unique beauty and closeness to seas and rivers. She explores the sphere of the independent, something that one has never seen before, to better help us to understand how these two aspects can live together, looking for unexpected harmonies. TULLIO PACIFICI (Giugno 2008) Tratto da “Zenworld, giugno 2008” Barbara Pastorino is a young artist who gives purity and innocence to her female nuds, that emerge from the canvass with strength of classical sculptures. They appear immersed in an existentialist meditation, that squeezes them in a sort of sadness like metaphysic pain of Leibnitz, but they exhibit a certain pride in having such beautiful bodies, that suggest the image of “belle membra” of Laura, beloved by Petrarca. Paolo Riceputi(Febbraio 2004) Very good at dealing with colour, she challenges the different shades and creates works clearly inspired by the impressionist movement. Monet among her favourite of the "masters". We can almost hear the murmuring water of the canal in the canvasses dedicated to Venice; wonderful the one named “Canale a Venezia”, a bi-chromatic black and blue work, fascinating and melancholic. The trait seems to be formed by a blurred lens, in which slanted reality finds itself in its own sense of integrity (Isola di San Giulio). Again, full of suggestion, the work “Fiume”, in which Barbara Pastorino expresses her love for the naturalistic subject….” Mara Zanotti (Settembre 2000) Tratto da “Il nuovo torrazzo”
