Birgitt van Bracht Artist Bio:

The work of Sweden based Dutch artist Birgitt van Bracht can be seen as an ode to animals and nature. Her digitally composed work of natural subjects is so dreamy realised that one feels to step into them and gets the smell of the environment. Her hyper-collage process is instinctual and organic, allowing each and every subject to precept its own destiny. Due to unfortunate circumstances she lost everything in the Netherlands In 2014: her house, her studio, her art materials and almost all the paintings and drawings she made over 30 years. But an art collector rescued a part of her work. After this experience she made her move to Sweden and continued with her daily work: creating. In 1985 she bought her first Mac and started to adapt her work into digital drawings at that time. She was exploring the possibilities of new media and digital techniques. But she was never using her photography and drawing techniques the way she does nowedays. Birgitt enhanced her technology to a much greater extend since she moved into Sweden in 2014. She was seeking to express herself in a new way, along the lines of her earlier work. Born and raised in the countryside in Holland she embedded her connection with nature as a small child, in the very southern, hilly and beautifully surroundings of her parent’s house. After her studies graphics and photography at Art Academy, she started her career as a professional artist and had a lot of success with her, at first figurative and later, developed to, abstract work. In the same period she started to ‘gather’ animals and became highly addicted to them. cats, plants, leaves, birds, horses, flowers, dogs, sheep and chicken were part of her daily life, living as remote as possible in the Dutch countryside. More and more intrigued by the beauty of these creatures and nature around her, made her think of how she could translate them into paintings. She travelled a lot through mainly Europe, preferably to remote places and museums. Nature, art and loneliness was what attracted her. Not earlier then after her move to Sweden where she lives now in the middle of forests, lakes, fields, and rocks, she developes a technique in digital high-tech to make her creativity bounce on a flat screen. She creates these wonderful dreamy worlds of everything surrounding, emanating into her hyper-collages. Art van Remundt
