Bogdan Zareba Artist Bio:

Use "Full images" option to display here my paintings (I'm using non standard format) I've discovered on Saatchi Online more then 300 paintings indicating possible direction of development of today's painting. I've invested 3 weeks to do that, and I need another 3 weeks to finish it. I'm very interested by choice of 300 paintings by others members of Saatchi Online. I'm doing painting for myself, but I hope that what interests me might also be interesting for others. I don't believe in one "TRUTH" in painting, in one style of painting, for me the painting should develop simultaneously in several directions, the more directions is better. Our understanding of reality in 21st century is based on multi-level, sophisticated structures, constructed by writers, musicians, poets, painters, scientists etc In 21st century we know the reality 100 better then in 20th century, and 10000 better then in 19th century, so our paintings should be 10000 better then Goya's paintings from 19th century. So why Velasquez paintings are 10000 better than ours from 21st century ? The classic painters like Velasquez, Rembrandt in a mysterious way have succeeded to reflect their epoch in very profound sense and they have become universal to us. I think that it's important to study the classic paintings, in order to learn about their quality. In shows you immediately see which painters have studied classic paintings and who has not. J.Johns, self-trained painter, has studied carefully Grunewald and these studies have given him his quality of painting. In Twombly paintings you feel immediately his fascination for the antic art. When you look at Soutine paintings you immediately see that he has studied Rembrandt in Louvre. In my paintings I'm looking for the quality able to resist the destructive action of time. In 1920 about 100 000 painters have been working in Paris, now 99% of them are totally forgotten today 90 years later, we remember no more then 10 (Picasso, Matisse, Modigliani, Braque, etc) In 2010 a NY gallery owner has said that from more than 2000 painters represented by NY galleries in 1980, no more than 20 were still on market 30 years later. Sometime 100 images in a hour drops in my head like slides, like in a dream, the images with interesting colours, structured, finished. (I don't understand why and how) F.Bacon in his interviews has been speaking about the same phenomena. I'm sure that other painters have the similar experiences of images dropping like in a dream. I'd like to be able in the future to realize 5% of these images, because some of them are really interesting. I've written some messages about the collections in order to describe the contradictions in today's painting as they have seemed to appear into me. I don't believe in COMPETITION in painting as a method of development. Picasso and Matisse have never competed against other, they have worked in different directions, they had influenced each other and both have admired the other works. I find extremely difficult the use of chaos in painting, the smallest error in using the chaos provoke an explosion of painting (Challenger explosion in 1986 has been provoked by a technological chaos in a booster) only Pollock and Kooning had the talent to use the chaos in extraordinary way I appreciate very much the energy of Mr Saatchi in his work in favour of art, to allow the artists to live from their activities. e-mail [email protected] or [email protected]
