Carita Schmidt Artist Bio:
Carita Schmidt is a Finnish-Swedish visual artist, born in Germany. Since 2012 She is living and working as an artist in Berlin, Germany. Greece was the country of her choice between 1990 to 2011 directing her own art studio and private art school in Kavala and Athens, Northern Greece Bachelor from the University College of Film, Radio, Television and Theatre, Dramatiska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden In 2000 she received a three-month grant as "Artist in Residence" from the Vermont Studio Center, USA. 2001 Studio Exchange with the New York based artist Richard Lamb, Brooklyn, U.S.A. She has had 13 solo exhibitions and has taken part in more than fifty group Exhibitions in Europe and in the USA. 2015 "Yellowmorning" at Scandic Potsdamer Platz Berlin, co-operation with Gallery Kuhn & Partner, Berlin, Germany. 2013, Tod, Liebe, Leben at the Kulturhuset Multeum, Strängnäs, Sweden. 2013, she participated in Berlin at the B.AGL Kunstmesse at the ICAM(International Contemporary art Mall). In the years 1999-2001 Carita organised and staged her art performance and art video "Adamah" (Hebr. earth, dust, clay). One of these performances took place in the ancient ruins of Philippi, northern Greece, a second one was held in the "Old Archaeological Museum Geni Tzami" in Thessaloniki, where the video was also screened.
