Carl Fowler Artist Bio:
Many years retired and residing in a small coastal town in Maine, about a stone's throw from the mighty Penobscot River. My interest in painting began in Boston at Leslie University, then known as The School of Practical Art where I studied painting and sculpting for 3 years. Then I became an art director, illustrator with agencies in the Boston area. Up until a year ago all my paintings were traditional. The gallery that displays my work in a quaint coastal town in Maine has sold nearly ninety of them over the ten years we have been together. In the last two years alone twenty-five canvases have been carried away by art lovers from all over the world. My current abstractionist journeys are equally challenging and satisfying. I love the process of creating abstract paintings. My work is always layered-not by accident but by design. My particular process involves turning the canvas to view and create each side as a separate painting. Then I repeat that process until I feel certain that the work is finished—done--four paintings in one. Look closely to see the layers of color infusion and the textured media mix. An art critic friend says this about my abstracts: “Your work is filled with interesting color combinations and has a satisfying energy.” Painting gives me great pleasure. Painting sessions are filled with adventurous creative confrontations. I am a selfish artist. I paint to satisfy me. When I’m pleased with my offering it may be worthy of gallery display. I am pleased with this offering and sincerely hope you are as well.
