Chandon Banning Artist Bio:

Chandon Banning was born in Los Angeles and currently resides in Santa Fe, NM. Her primary medium is oil on canvas, often large-scale abstracts, though also known to create sculptures and mixed media pieces. Her 15-year career in interior design and architectural finishes, giving her a unique understanding of color, symmetry, and texture, is reflected in her work. Influenced by Gerhard Richter and Mark Rothko, art is an organic expression of the mind, an experiment in color and emotion. From her studio, music necessarily plays as an integral part of her creative process. The process is about letting go of preconceived notions and allowing emotion and color to come together freely. Her work reflects a passion for and understanding of her medium, knowledge gained from years as a professional painter from high-end residential settings to Hollywood art departments. With the Urban Art Consortium, Chandon participated in numerous group shows, showed the strength of her work in solo exhibitions, such as Stamina, and participated in the Hollywood Bowl art show, creating a widely exhibited six-foot sculpture with the remnants of the Frank Geary spheres. Her series influenced by contemporary conceptual artist Barbara Kruger, sold in its entirety, as have her earlier works to collectors in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and on the East Coast. Chandons most recent shows were group shows in 2014 including 3 shows with Studio 14 and 1 with studio 555. Throughout her career, Chandon has donated numerous pieces to fundraisers for causes dear to her heart, believing it is a responsibility to stand up for those who cannot speak for themselves. Art is a voice, an expression of the soul, it can speak not only of beauty, design, and architecture, but bring to the world a unique visual experience of human emotions and passions, the landscapes of the mind and heart.
