Cora de Lang Artist Bio:
There is certainly an intercultural mark on all my art. What really makes the difference if you live and work around the world (four continents and seven countries) is the existential experience of the OTHERNESS, the signs and symbols which I learned to distinguish, interpret, and assimilate as they grow around and within myself becoming interwoven in my “tissue”, being a fountain of creativity for me and my daily creative process, perhaps the inner conviction that diversity per se is the proof for the richness of this world. Thus; I’ve been tagged a “transcultural nomad artist”. I work in layers weaving stories within my art incorporating memories, experiences, creating a visual text that oscillates between reality and dream world. The labyrinth of scenes made with clusters of images within one painting, sometimes intertwined without full stops or clear progression from one to the other, challenges the viewer to venture deep into the pictorial language of each art work, and crack the code that would unveil the whole story. My work has often been compared to stories by Isabel Allende and Gabriel Garcia Marquez and their version of story telling in the genre of magic realism where the mundane is mingled with the fantastic.
