Giovanni Randazzo Artist Bio:
My most recent work results from the constant reflection on how an image is constructed and on how a multiple, ambiguous and fragmented reality is represented. The result tends to be a piece of fiction where multiple planes, fragments of reality, landscapes, extint animals and utopic architectures are at interplay. The expressionist character of my work is conected to the mutable caracter of the intuitive being, the animal, the irrational. The abstract, the geometric, the synthetic, straight lines and acute angles, are the manifestation of rationality; the masculine and the feminine, the ‘anima’ and ‘animus’ (C.Jung). My works are the manifest of the continuous oscillation between balance and imbalance, order and chaos, between the reality of the external world and the internal, the spiritual and the oneiric. The planes of perception and representation are at interplay in a fragmented fashion, sometimes blunt, sometimes blurry, ephemeral, like the projection of a memory in the anteroom of a human brain. My work has been influenced by artists such as Robert Rauschenberg, Cy Twombly, Albert Oelen, Gerhard Richter, Neo Rauch, Matthias Weischer, David Schnell, Martin Kobe, Corinne Wasmuth and Frank Nitsche, among others. Currently living in Bogota, Colombia, my artistic career has been shaped by my studies, travels and long periods living and working in cities like Milano, Paris and Berlin. I studied in Universidad de los Andes (Bogota), in Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera (Milano), Paris 8 and Paris 1 Sorbonne.
