Hannah Weatherhead Artist Bio:

My primary approach towards making work is through painting. Current paintings explore both botanical imagery abstracted designs, inspired by anything from house plants to TV shows, to Instagram feeds. Pairing the two together offers more opportunities to expand my art practice. By utilising a variety of mediums to investigate the painted surface, abstract compositions, patterns and forms attempt to address and accept materiality within my work. Motifs recur throughout my practice, and these repetitions enforce the texture and materiality of the works. Mark-making and patterns on abstract pieces can be seen as intervals between more realistic representations, and by contrasting chaos and order, they contain considered compositions and a common language between styles. For the viewer it should be about ambiguity, interpretation and surprise. Having graduated from the University of the Creative Arts, Canterbury in 2011, I continue to develop my practice in Kent, and regularly exhibit nationwide.
