I R A K L I M E K V A B I S H V I L I Born 1976 Tblisi, Giorgia Lives and works in Rome, Italy “Fragment paintings” are series of more than 20 large paintings ranging between 120x80cm to 120x170 cm. Viewing my works one can notice a mixture of old and modern oil painting methods, I am deeply influenced from a traditional painting as I was grew up in my fathers studio. The images I paint are fragmented paintings is a result of my recent research, based on collage technique that helps me to brake traditional methods and explore more a construction, composed of a contrasting details. Fragments, scenes and frames have been reassembled to generate a new level of identity. This paintings are very theatrical and could be read as set design, as a paused movie frame, I use fragments trying to eliminate time and place factor and trasmit a sense of becoming and dinamism.
