Kez Leigh Robinson Artist Bio:

I am an Australian contemporary artist living in New York City. My life so far has been culturally rich and diverse, having travelled extensively and lived in Australia, Europe, Africa and the United States while managing global visual campaign projects for the United Nations. Returning to Sydney after 15 years living abroad, I started the contemporary design jewelry company, Kezzi Design. A strong desire to focus my creative energy to my first artistic love, painting, prompted a move to New York City where I pursued full-time art study with the Art Student's League. Nowadays, I am a resident artist at Studio Back to Back in East Harlem, New York, USA. "Always keen to explore different techniques that offer new expressive possibilities, process and experimentation with technique and the celebration of color lie at the heart of my creativity. So, although having ‘cut my teeth’ on representational painting, my current works are contemporary in style, exploring new mediums and color relationships through dripping, spattering and intermingling acrylic paint colors. I manipulate the paint on the canvas in layers producing sometimes organic, sometimes geometric patterns and finishing with gold leaf. The different layers fuse to become a kaleidoscope of beautiful forms. The paint, ebbing and flowing, evolves into an unexpected collision of vibrant colors; of haphazard overlays combined with the grounded certainty of linear definition. The mood and life of the painting created corresponds directly to the energy that I apply to this process. I have absorbed, loved an pursued art, design and engagement with color all my life. In me, the passion to create with my hands is innate, powerful and emotive, and I am ever drawn toward stepping on that cyclical path of fear, indecision, bravery, vulnerability and passion. ”
