Liliana Barros Artist Bio:

Born Portugal, in 1980, Liliana Barros began her dance studies at BALLETEATRO Escola Profissional and at the Classical Ballet school Pirmin Treku, in Oporto, and completed her dance formation at the Rotterdam Dance Academy ( CODARTS), where she obtains her Bachelor degree in Dance Major Performance, in 2003. In Rotterdam, she had the opportunity to work with several choreographers, among them Anouk van Dijk, Philip Adams, Liang Xing, André Gringas. Since then, she has worked professionally with several european companies such as Compagnia Zappalá Danza, in Sicily, under direction of Roberto Zappalá, Companhia Rui Lopes Graca, in Lissabon, Pretty Ugly Tanz Köln, under direction of Amanda Miller, and Ballet des Saarländischen Staatstheater, in Germany, under direction of Marguerite Donlon, where she danced works by Marguerite Donlon as well as Itzik Galili, Stephan Thoss, Yossi berg& Oded Graf, Marco Goecke and others. In 2008, she joins the Compagnie Marie Chouinard, in Montreal, where she embodies the very aclaimed pieces such BodyRemix/GoldbergVariations, Orphee&Euridice, Le Sacre du Printemps and others. Back In Europe, in March 2009, Liliana Barros, incorporates once more the ensemble of the Ballet des Saaläandischen Staatstheater. Important roles have been, the mother in The Green Table, by Kurt Joss, Strokes throught the tail, by Marguerite Donlon, Le Sacre du Printemps, as the victim, by Marguerite Donlon, Cinderella, and The Miraculous Mandarin by Stijn Celis, Walking Mad by Johan Inger, Forgotten Land by Jiri Kylian. In 2011, she has received an Award, from the Sponsor Club Preis of the Saarläandischen Staatstheater, for her outstanding performance in Le Sacre du Printemps. As a Choreographer, she created Persona for the Ballet des Saarläandischen Staatstheater. She has also created several short pieces within the frame work Substanz, an yearly production. ILhektra, Claritas, Garden of Delight, Menagerie and others, are some of her works. Liliana Barros, is also a self taught painter, and has been evolving this art form parallel to dance. Her work is mostly figurativ and paints mainly with oils.
