Moshe Gordon Artist Bio:

MOSHE GORDON 1949 Born in Ramle, Israel Lives and Creats at Hadera City, Israel Autodidact 1979 - 1983 Founder and manager of the art school for glass in Tel – Aviv 1988 - 1993 One of the founders of the art boarding school at Mitzpe Ramon From a young age I was exposed to the abstract and ready-made. As a boy I discovered the artists Yigal Tumarkin, Antoni Tapies and Arman. From my earliest childhood I knew I would be an artist. When I was young I painted and sculpted, storing up everything: fabrics, metals, plastics, etc. . In the eighties I worked and created in glass . Since the early 90s I deal mostly with paper and a lot of paper, folding, rolling and wrinkling. After experimenting with other materials I find paper is the ultimate for me; it is obedient and does not require power or muscular effort, it is somehow a feminine activity. As we become a more digital society, books and encyclopedia are thrown into the street unclaimed and I load them, liberate them from the pounding blades and give them an extra life span. Work develops intuitively without preliminary sketches, endless Sisyphean work. "I have nothing to say and I say it" John Cage also said, "If something is boring after two minutes, try it for four. If it is still boring, then eight. Then sixteen. Then thirty two. Eventually one discovers that it is not boring at all . " I am also influenced by "Wabi-sabi" that speaks of the beauty of things imperfect, provisional and incomplete. The beauty of simple things and modest . The combination of John Cage and Wabi - sabi gives me the authority and the right to stand behind my work and hope to move the viewer. Thank you . Moshe Gordon Dear Moshe Gordon. your work struck me immediately as most interesting, innovative and beautiful. you are a very lucky man having been endowed with an artistic sense and ability that very few have.
