Nicu Stanciu Artist Bio:

I think the artist is a child. He wanders through different worlds, curious, he plays, he does everything that comes into his mind. The freedom and the pleasure of playing are very important, without them the artist can not create. I think that the classical idea of style has a broader sense nowadays. I often go through different periods of creation in each period having a different style, but as well I approach more styles at the same time. I use fast brushstrokes, aiming the spontaneous and the gestural and sometimes the involuntary, the accidental. With these repeating brushstrokes I create rhythm and movement, things that give a sense of time to my paintings, I believe. I always try to put brushstrokes on a well organized composition structure so that in the end may result a work with good harmony and balance. I think that fast painting has the capacity of rendering deep emotions and feelings which is the subconscious. Same is the experimental, which implies a great freedom of creativity, freedom that brings to light the subconscious. At the same time with my experimental exploration of the subconscious I always try to follow the basic rules of drawing and painting, even in an abstract work, rules that give solidity and meaning to the final result. Art is a continuous revelation, life is a continuous revelation, art is life, painting is life. The painting doesn't begin when one first puts the brush onto a canvas and it doesn't finish with the last brushstroke. Each artwork is the expression of many life sequences, of many experiences. I'm interested in all that is human and beyond. Human body, human spirit, nature, energies, stories, love, feelings, memories, conscious and subconscious, dreams, reality and beyond reality, small things, big things, and much more, any of these can become the subject of my paintings. There are endless possibilities. Sometimes I paint a fragment from a story that I imagine, sometimes I paint an abstract emotion or a mood, sometimes I mix fragments from different realities, other times I simply let my imagination fly free and come up with whatever she might find interesting at the moment. I like mood and atmosphere, I like mysterious feelings, I like the light and shade drama, I like stories, I like real things and imaginary things, I like exploring and I enjoy it and I try to put everything I like into my work. My creative process is a permanent oscillation between conscious and subconscious, a permanent journey of knowledge and self knowledge, a constant search of beauty.
