Scott Troxel Artist Bio:
From an early age, I have been obsessed with modern art, color and design. I studied filmmaking and art at Temple University before moving into a career in product development and industrial design, graphic design, visual communications and brand marketing. Over the past few years, I have started creating work again with an emphasis on very modern, geometric and architectural, abstract art. I love good design. The color, balance, composition and energy that radiate from a really good piece of art is what all artists seek to find, no matter the subject or medium. I like to look at objects, emotions or colors and break them down to the root or essence of their abstract form. The way these abstract forms then interact with color, energy and balance on the canvas, form my technique. More recently, I have been exploring very clean, cubist-like, angular and architectural abstracts like bridges, ships and cityscapes. I am also heavily influenced by the flat, plastic like tones of the 50’s, 60’s and 70s’. I love painting razor sharp lines, but sometimes I get out brushes and just paint with raw emotion, similar to Abstract Expressionism or action painting. This year I am very focused on the combination of wood and hard edge geometric painting in wall sculptures. I am very inspired by artists like Frank Stella, who did not limit themselves to rectangular shapes to showcase their work, but instead broke free and allowed the shape of the piece to rise to another level of meaning. This is what I also strive to achieve.” I am currently showing at Saatchi Art and UGallery (Online) The Holtzman Gallery, ArtBox Gallery, The Ocean City Fine Arts League Gallery.
